Content Analysis

In my lesson we have been discussing different target audience and this comes under demographics and psychographics. Demographics involves things such as  Interests  ,hobbies, style, religion.  Differently Psychographics comes under careers, succeeder, artists, mainstreamers and alternatives.

In the class we have been analyzing Top of the Pops magazine and Kerrang Magazine ; here are the mastheads.

The top of the pops magazine's target audience ranges from ages 11-15. You can tell this from the vaitiety of colous, pictures and the different but similar people that feature in the magazine. When it comes to the demographics the target audience interests are most likely to be listening the pop music such as JLS and Justin Bieber. The style would be very different to someone who reads NME Magazine, Kerrang magazine and Grazia Magazine. The target audience style would be more infant shops such as primark rather looking like an adult who shops in shops like h&m. In this magazine I think that the religion varies and you can not really tell.  Hobbies would most likely be reading magazines like this, my space, habbo hotel which involves playing games on-line. They would really read advanced magazine unlike some other magazine readers.  Religion would mainly be based on the religion of the readers parents, I don't think they would have really thought about faith and God.

The psychographics consists of the 11-15 years olds going to school and sorting out what they are going to be doing life rather than already working or already in univeritsty like some other magazines psychographics. They do not have careers and they are not main streamers they would just be focusing on their education.

NME Magazine is some what different.
There are many differences between Top of the Pops and NME Magazine. NME is mainly based on rock music and range from ages 15 -20+. The bold colours such as Black, white and red are different to top of the pops which is mainly pink and yellow. They have features that cover artists such as Ozzy Osborne and Oasis. The demographics are rock music, going to different gigs and more, you can tell this because of all the adverts in the magazine for upcoming concerts and interviews with different artists. Their style is mainly black, dark colours almost indi and punk.

NME has almost obvious psycographics , in careers I think they will be in the media industry such as music and acting. When it comes to religion they are most likely to be athiest. Mainly males would read this and also students. They also have adverts for games such as " Residents Evil " and " Halo " which you would not see in any other magazine.

People would read these magazine for entertainment or possibly for information like I said before could want information on when the next gig.
